Who is responsible

Ben Hollebon, trading as Church Digital Strategy, is the data controller. You can reach me at ben@churchdigitalstrategy.com. If you need a postal address, ask and I will give you one.

What I collect, and why

Your email address, when you submit the form on the home page. I use it to tell you when the full site launches, and to send Wired for Good, a free newsletter about digital and AI for UK churches. Nothing else.

The lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), and separately the consent required for marketing email under regulation 22 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. You can withdraw it at any time and it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give - every email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing is the whole of what you need to do.

No cookies, no analytics

This page sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and runs no analytics. That is why there is no cookie banner - there is nothing to consent to. The full site, when it launches, will use analytics behind a consent banner and will say so on its own privacy page.

Who else sees it

• beehiiv - the platform that stores the mailing list and sends the newsletter. A processor acting on my instructions.
• Vercel - hosts this page and handles the form submission in transit.

Both are US companies, so your email address is transferred outside the UK. Those transfers rely on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or on the International Data Transfer Addendum. Ask me and I will tell you which applies and send you a copy of the safeguards.

I do not sell your address, and I do not share it with anyone else.

How long I keep it

Until you unsubscribe, or until you ask me to delete it. If you unsubscribe I keep a record that you did, because that is how I make sure you are not added again by mistake.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what I hold, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, ask me to restrict what I do with it, object to it, or ask for it in a portable format. Ask, and I will do it - there is no form and no fee.

If you are unhappy, complain to me first. Since 19 June 2026 you have a statutory right to complain directly to an organisation about how it has handled your data (section 164A of the Data Protection Act 2018), and I have to acknowledge it within 30 days and respond without undue delay.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at any time, under section 165 of the same Act - you do not have to come to me first. The ICO helpline is 0303 123 1113.

Changes

When the full site launches this notice is replaced by a fuller one covering the whole site. If that changes anything material for people already on the list, I will say so in an email rather than quietly updating this page.
